A Clinical Observation on 1107 Cases of Various Upper G-I Disease Based on Endoscopic Findings

Abstract
A Clinical analysis was carried out on 1107 patients with various upper G-I disease who have visited the department of Internal Medicine, Asan Foundation Attached Jung Eup Hospital during the period from Jan. 1990 to Dec. 1990.
We got the followings as a result.
1. Of the total 1107 cases, 686(62%) cases were male and 421(38%) cases were female. 31.26% of the cases were of the 5th decade and 4th, 6th decade in order.
2. The distribution of upper G-I disease on endoscopic findings was gastritis 543(49.05%) cases, gastric ulcer 209(18.88%) cases. duodenal ulcer 83(7.50%) cases, and gastric cancer 70(6.32%) cases in order.
3. Of the 543 patients with gastritis. 273(50.3%) cases were male and 270(49.7%) cases were female. The peak incodence of gastritis was 5th decade. The most frequent type of gastritis was chronic superficial gastitis, 340(62.6%) cases.
4. 01 the 209 cases of gastric ulcer, 170(81%) cases were male and 39(19%) cases were female. The peak edoscopic findings revealed that single ulcer was 118(56.4%) cases and multiple ulcer was 91(43.6%) cases.
5. Of the 83 cases of duodenal ulcer, 73(88%) cases were male and 10(12%) cases were female. The peak incidence of duodenal ulcer was 5th decade and 3rd. 4th decade in order. The most prevalent site of the ulcer was the angle site in stomach and bulbar portion in duodenum.
6. Of the 70 cases of gastric cancer, male to female ratio was 1.8:l and peak incidence was 5th decade(38.57%). The most frequent type of gastric cancer type II in Borromann¢¥s classification(47.1%).
